103 summons issued at checkpoint

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – On May 8, in a matter of five hours, Portsmouth Police issued 103 summons for various traffic violations.

Jan Westerbeck with Portsmouth Police tells WAVY.com the checkpoint was established in the area of South Street and Des Moines Avenue between the hours of 6 pm and 11 pm

Police say 41 summons were issued to drivers with a suspended license and four drivers had no license. Two were arrested for driving under the influence and 58 miscellaneous summonses were issued such as no seat belt, improper tags and defective equipment.

Westerbeck says checkpoints will continue throughout the year by the Portsmouth Police Strategic Traffic Unit.

(TP) MISCELLANEOUS INCIDENT Twin Peaks Station. Ongoing issues at the Antlers Inn regarding two subjects harassing and causing problems with the manager and other tenants. The RP alleges she was threatened verbally and is scared. The deputies spoke with all involved parties and found the stories to be in conflict. Alleged threat does not meet criminal criteria. Manager is attempting to evict the problem tenants.

(TP) FRAUDULENT USE OF CREDIT CARD Twin Peaks Station. RP is reporting fraudulent use of her debit card in Ontario, sometime between April 29 and April 30. The card was used to charge over $70 to a number of Internet sites.

Stratasys to Merge with Objet

Three dimensional (3D) printer manufacturers Stratasys Inc. (SSYS – Analyst Report) recently disclosed its intention to merge with Objet Ltd. to form a company which is expected to have a value worth $1.4 billion.

The merged entity would be christened as Stratasys Ltd. The Chairmanship would be held by Stratasys CEO Scott Crump, while the current CEO of Objet David Reis will hold the position of a CEO.

The newly-formed Stratasys Ltd. will be based in Eden Prairie and Rehovot, Israel. Each company will select four members from their existing board to form a nine-member board of the new company. The ninth member will be selected by, Stratasys with the approval of Objet.
